madebyme_x wrote an amazing ficlet called What Could Have Been, a kale!Sam piece from the Lebanon AU. Sam's feelings come through viscerally, and even in the short number of words it twisted in a way I didn't expect and left me gasping. Angsty and scary and SO GOOD! Go read! :D
