I love stories that incorporate pictures. Earlier this year, I read an excellent YA book called Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children which used found photographs and made the pictures part of the story. It really appealed to me, and probably helped inspire this.
And yeah, I don't know if I can write SPN fic without at least a little bit of sad. :P Especially when the boys are apart.
